Since its inception in 2019, the Women Songwriters Hall of Fame has recognized more than 50 women in the music industry worldwide. Founded by Dr. Janice Mclean DeLoatch, WSHOF is a nonprofit organization focused on closing the gap between men's and women’s professional acknowledgment and accolades in music. According to her research, while women make up over 40% of the music business, they are recognized less than 7.9% on average in all categories.
